When creating questions within advanced assessments on the points scale (utilizing variable scoring), the following points & settings should be used in order for the question to fall in the correct mastery band. Remember: points are not shown anywhere, just used for variable levels
The points scale would be used when creating a questions (needing variable scoring) that has answers :
-
with variable levels of correctness (best answer, okay answer, least okay answer)
-
example: multiple choice A = Mastery, choice C = Approaching, etc.
-
This utilizes alternative answers in Otus, not multiple responses
-
multiple parts with single correct answers (drag and drop labels with 4 different labels)
-
example: Cloze drag and drop
When creating a question with multiple parts (close, drag & drop, match, list, etc) the settings for scoring should be:
-
Correct point value = 8 (MS) or 3 (Elem)
-
Scoring type = Partial Match
-
Rounding = None
-
Minimum Score if attempted = 2 (MS)
When creating a question with variable scoring, the following points should be used for the levels. **Note* not all levels need to be used, but at least target/mastery should be used.
